Various Elden Ring fan theories have emerged that aim to explain certain aspects, one of which has to do with the main NPC.
Gideon Ofnir is one of the important NPCs in the game. He appears on Roundtable Hold, players can talk to him to get more information about shardbearers. Gideon plays a role in Nepheli’s questline, and he also serves as the main story boss towards the end of the game. Known as Sir Gideon Ofnir, omniscient in this battle, one player has come up with a crazy theory about how omniscient Gideon is.
A Redditor named VaneBorne set out to explain the theory by pointing to Gideon’s armor, which depicts the eyes and ears in great detail. VaneBorne then associates his name with a beetle called Xylotrupes gideon, which associates it with Teardrop Scarabs. VaneBorne said that Scarabs also have eyes, and they think these Scarabs may be a way for Gideon to spy on players.
They also shared two maps showing the beetles’ locations and wondered if it could prove how Gideon didn’t know something. Essentially, VaneBorne concluded that the scarab in the Elden Ring is Gideon’s surveillance drone, which is why he knows the world so well.
